We need Socialism. Socialism Is A Good Thing. Socialism Promotes The General Welfare.

Hello Threedee,

No. I don't want the government to own everything. I have never advocated for straight up socialism.

I consistently advocate for seeking the proper balance of capitalism and socialism.

Socialism for needs, capitalism for wants.

Needs to be said again:

Socialism for needs, capitalism for wants.

A good point.

On a quasi-related tangent, here are some recent benefits of Socialism I have incorporated into my life.

Last week I subscribed to my public library’s free video streaming service. I have also gotten in the habit of getting almost all the books I want to read from the library. You would be actually amazed at the services and products good public libraries can provide.

Wrapping up - I am trying to remember why I ever paid money to the Capitalist Swine at Barnes & Noble and HBO.

You probably liked having coffee with your new books. :cof1:

I grew-up patroning King County Libraries. We used to check-out our movies and cassettes/CDs all the time.

Righteous!
I marvel at how valuable public libraries are to the public commons.

In my humble opinion, public libraries and the Green Bay Packers are two of socialism's greatest contributions to human progress.

Green Bay is one of the most capitalistic franchises in American sports!

Exactly, you brought Russia into the discussion and then tried to say well, you can't talk about Russia in comparison to the US.

I got your number now, you've shown your colors.

Um, what? I know all Marxists are illiterate, but, I said the USSR can't be compared to America because its economy sucked too hard. Please feel free to compare the Soviet "economy" to America's.

And.....you think venezuela is doing good?? Socialism makes the poor poorer. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakining the strong. Also remember the more power you give to the government to take care of you means less freedom for yourself

Venezuela is a country that relied on one product for their wealth. that can go wrong and it did. Their problems have nothing to do with socialism, lots of socialistic countries are doing very well. The more power and wealth you give to the plutocrats and corporations, the less you will have.

Capitalism makes the poor poorer. Our system continually trickles the wealth up to the top. Money = power. The power of the wealthy in American is way lobsided and getting worse every time trump does anything. Our wealth gap is worse than the Gilded age. Trump just keeps making it worse and worse.

Trump talked about how his genius was going to fix the trade balance. Does this show you he knows what he is doing?

well fettered capitalism works dude

all your hero countries are capitalist countries who have fettered their capitalism well

Here's what you have darling;

Privatized gains versus socialized losses for the Wall Street bankster class
Internalized profit versus externalized risk and expense for the "job creator" class
Socialism for the aristocracy versus laissez-faire capitalism for the masses

The competitive sloganeering of partisanshitheads has worn very thin, folks are taking note.

The US has been destabilizing Venezuela and latin american countries for decades. Seems capitalists aren't sure it fails without help from them. Same for Cuba.

Obama tried to open up Cuba and trump and the plutocrats turned it back. That makes no sense. Make lots of people suffer because you can.

Castro's sin was tossing out US corporations and the american mob, both who had used Cuba as a wealth extraction playground. Same for Venezuela, which we are still destabilizing, they merely tossed out our predatory globalist capitalists and refused to play ball with Wall Street, the IMF and the World Bank - going to war stuff. I do not see the party disparities in these efforts that you do. Yeah, Obama made a tepid gesture, the the Dems have had decade upon decade to do something other than posture for appearances sake.

America works

because we cant get it all done due to republican election cheating weakening our power with cheating Americans out of their votes to steal as much power as they can.

end the republican party cheating

which is completely documented in our court system

why do you keep pretending that is not an issue?

Castro took over with the mafia running Havana and American Ag companies using slave labor on their land. It had to end. We had a chance to stay if we were going to treat Cuba with respect. That is not the nature of capitalists. They were going to take their land back. So the Bay of Pigs killed the chance for diplomacy. We could have apologized and hoped for better. But not our way.

You should change that sub-title from King of Cheese Steals (which I actually am)...

...to King of trite bullshit.

You want more freedom for yourself...move to Antarctica.

Hello FKD19124,

And.....you think venezuela is doing good??

Venezuela also relied on one hydro dam for most of their power. Then they faced a big drought. It came at the worst timing, when oil sales dried up for them.

Venezuela is a small country with limited resources. It is illogical to compare it to the USA. An Apples/Oranges thing.

Socialism makes the poor poorer.

Actually socialism in the USA, in the form of the social safety net, has made the poor far better off than capitalism ever did.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakining the strong.

Wealth redistribution is proven effective at improving the lives of the poor. Even with the minimal wealth redistribution that we do, wealth inequality is becoming more and more extreme.

Also remember the more power you give to the government to take care of you means less freedom for yourself

The government is us. We formed our own self-government a long time ago. Part of the reason is in the founding documents, to Promote the General Welfare. We, The People, have the ultimate power in this country. All that is needed is for us to unite and use our combined power to offset the damage caused by the Class War. It is the rich and powerful that makes government do bad things. We are the 99%. We can do this if we just unite against the powerful. We could have it so much better. And we could have our debt under control. Better energy, better education, better healthcare at lower cost. And guess what else? We could have far cheaper internet. We are all getting ripped off, you know.

Slave labor? According to the Cuban government the average wage is $18 per month.

No, it is not your history, it is your imprinting. The world's staunchest and most vociferous "capitalist" "free marketeers" begged for socialism - on the backs of the unsubstantial people - when they tanked the economic system, and got it, across both "conservative" and "liberal" administrations, and the entire world witnessed it. America merely leverages its brand of socialism to benefit the ruling aristocracy versus society at large.
