I Don't immerse myself in such People... I find a way to work with whomever I'm working with at the time...for
30 years I mostly taught with democrats... And
I mostly work with them now... My goal isn't to get along politically...It's to get things done...and I do.. People know exactly where I stand...always have... And yes it's clear we both work with what we've got... and we're sincere...The world is a better place with us both... Everyone has a job to do some.Just do it better than others...and do it with honesty and integrity...

I've lost all respect and trust in him as a medical professional.

It's a tough one. I once had a dentist who was the best dentist I've ever had, balanced, fair, decent and did a great job... but occasionally he'd roll out some weird thing he believed or some weird story of his youth that sounded just outlandish. I bit my lip and just endured because he was such a good dentist. Even when I left that town I maintained contact with him for a short while and even flew back to that town once with the intention of having him do some dental work for me.

Wish I had some good advice on this but sometimes you have to let the doctor's freak flag fly if they are worth keeping otherwise. However it does cause some concern about what their competence REALLY is.

While I DO actually worry about the mental acuity of Trumpists, I am also not entirely certain it is a good thing to demonize them so much that we are unable to come to some common ground where we can still talk.

I fear the Trumpist view of "reality" but I'm also more fearful of when we completely and utterly fail to talk to each other or even go so far as to effectively de-humanize the other side because the step after that is even more unpleasant.

This is an optimistic but unrealistic view.

The major political parties have drifted much too far apart to have any ideological overlap whatsoever.
There's very little that can be discussed on a bipartisan basis.
Most votes on important issue stay hard on party line.
This is how it will remain for the lifetime of anybody here now.

At this point, the wise strategy is not to find common ground.
It doesn't exist.
The correct strategy is to help your own side win.

This is life in a fiercely polarized nation.
This is reality.

I personally favor a peacefully negotiated partition to a civil war.

The status quo will never result in anything but at least 49.5% of the people loathing the government,
no matter which major party is controlling it.

When the government is split as it is now, complete gridlock is the only possible result.

The only way to give people what they really want
is having two nations giving them totally different things.

Americans want totally different things,
and they're well beyond the feasibility of compromise.
