Representative Democracy is a form of Democracy. The reason Republicans claim we're not a Democracy is because they don't want ANY form of Democracy. They want Authoritarianism.

And keep in mind, the rich used to pay way more in taxes. There was no max exodus when the rich paid a 90% tax rate, there was just a lot of bitching.

The rich have never paid that here. If you're referring to the 50s, the nominal rate was pretty high, but no one paid that due to a lack of limits on deductions and exemptions. The highest anyone usually pays here is the high end of the AMT, but personal taxes didn't even have a mechanism like the AMT until 1969.

And sure, there will be people hiding their money in the Cayman Islands and Switzerland. But they're doing that now too. Greedy narcissists will always do that no matter how much the tax rate is. But if the 1% is less powerful, it will be much harder for them to get away with it.

See how Bernie's plan would have taxes us more, but also would have saved us more money overall? That's basically what it's like in Europe. I would agree that a functional NHS would save us money, but I have serious doubts in our system actually implementing one. Look what happened the last time there was talk of that -- we got mandatory private insurance (the ACA). That was just corporate welfare.

But the government wouldn't be running hospitals. European hospitals aren't all nationalized, so why would we have to do that in America?

If we went with the French design, that would be the best model, but Bernie had talked about "Medicare for All". Medicare in its current form isn't very good already, so expanding it to the total population would be worse.

Calling her a whore and knowing that she isn't qualified based on her gender/skin color are two different things.

I'm against abortion because it's killing an innocent life. To say what you say would mean the only women having abortions are those that get pregnant from casual sex then don't want what that choice produced.

If you thought she was qualified based on her beliefs and what she's done, you wouldn't defend her when someone calls her the whore she is.

It's cheating when you change your views on filing vacancies based on who is president at the time. The Republicans also didn't remove Trump when he was caught trying to cheat with the Ukraine scandal, haven't condemned him for encouraging voter fraud, haven't condemned him for calling for voter intimidation, and appear to be going along with his plan to have mail-in ballots thrown out to steal the election.

One of the problems with Liberals is that they don't understand the history of Conservatism, so they think that both sides are arguing over how best to run our Republic. But the Republicans, despite their name, are opposed to Democracy. So if you're going to play by the rules when dealing with Republicans, you're handicapping yourself.
