Usha Vance earned what MAGA morons call useless liberal arts degrees

Home economics is no joke. It’s pathetic.
so many degree programs should not be eligible for financing - or at least introduce more of a market approach and have higher rates for such programs. Things like Religious studies, Art History, Theater and so on that will almost certainly lead to inability to repay

Nope. Three of my best friends majored in history, one teaches at the US Naval academy, one is a technical writer, one works at the National Archives.
I have a friend whose daughter got a degree in art history .
She’s an “influencer” who posts videos of herself on instagram stuffing her face and modeling body positive clothing.
29 years old and lives at home.
Barista would actually be a big step up.

Art History is a far cry from actual history though.

It would be pretty easy to use placement rates and loan rates to help direct students towards careers that are lucrative and helpful to society.

any form of student loan write-offs would do the opposite - it incentivizes poor decisions

it took me in post #25 to actually address the topic of the post

the usual shit stains and trolls hard at work prior

Proving once again, you have no clue as to what people with those degrees actually do.
You think because some people that get a degree in a certain area and then do something else, that somehow the degree was worthless.
You would be surprised at the number of people that go to law school and don't end up making a career in law.

My key takeway is you are a retard that chooses to ignore real points and problems.

We live in a world where an established man with good credit can come up with a detailed analysis for a business idea, go to a bank for funding and be denied

Whereas a kid with no credit history, income, or assets can get a student loan for some pretty ridiculous future plans.

And now we need to forgive student loans because costs have gotten excessive...which is going to happen when you lend in such a manner
We live in a world where a white man that has multiple bankruptcies can walk into a bank and get loans even though he has defaulted on previous loans.

Steve Martin studied philosophy. Then theatre.
So...Steve Martin wasted his time, eh?!

I don't need to know - we have aggregate data to show that a degree in religious studies is not going to pay well

His argument is that the majority of people that get a degree in theater don't make the kind of money that Meryl Streep and Steve Martin make while ignoring all those in the multitude of jobs that are a result of a theater degree from teaching at college and HS level to designers and even the over 150 thousand members of IATSE that work in theater and film.
